How to make Meatloaf?

Making meatloaf is a classic comfort food dish that’s easy to prepare. Here’s a simple recipe for making meatloaf:

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and pork)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ cup grated cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Soak Breadcrumbs: In a small bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for a few minutes until they are soft.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, beaten egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined. If using grated cheese, fold it into the meat mixture.
  4. Shape Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf shape, pressing it down evenly.
  5. Top with Ketchup (Optional): Spread a thin layer of ketchup on top of the meatloaf for added flavor and moisture.
  6. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is browned. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) when fully cooked.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve the meatloaf slices with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a side salad.
  • You can also drizzle some gravy or additional ketchup on top for added flavor.

Enjoy your homemade meatloaf! It’s a versatile dish that’s perfect for a comforting dinner or leftovers for sandwiches the next day.
